Product Madness is looking for a Head of Art to oversee, inspire and lead the entire art department in the London office and its satellite operations. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing art teams, each dedicated to a specific project. You will directly oversee and guide several Art Directors each of which run a team of 3-6 artists ranging from junior to senior level across multiple art disciplines.
Your role also includes being the art director for the Product Madness branding end to end utilising internal and external partners to provide various deliveries needed outside the game teams.
On a tactical level, you will be responsible for the day to day operation of the entire art department. You will need to communicate and coordinate with your team leads as well as your counterparts in the Product and Development departments. You will need to know how to inspire creativity, mediate discussions, solve problems, provide marching orders and extract the most of each member of your team. On a strategic level, you will need to ensure the continued growth and success of the Art Department specifically and Product Madness as a whole. Lobbying for, and implementing, department wide initiatives which will benefit the team and the company. These can include pivoting on tech stacks, bringing in specific talent and skills sets, lobbying for conferences, training initiatives and more. You will be responsible for the staffing of the Art department as well as the departmental structure, budgeting and career progression planning.
The role is primarily a managerial role and not a hands-on art role. Experience in working with multiple teams is required.
Skills and Requirements
You will work closely with key people from different departments across Product Madness & Aristocrat. Managing sideways as well as upwards.
Constantly pushing the creative capabilities of Product Madness and championing art and usability to departments and people beyond your immediate jurisdiction.
Proven industry leading experience on multiple released mobile titles.
Proven industry leading experience managing a brand as art director
Extensive experience and demonstrably exceptional portfolio as a Head of Art or Senior Art Director.
Proven strong commercial experience.
Experience in managing teams across multiple locations.
Experience in all areas of the product life cycle including pre-production, development, live operations, marketing, UA and more.
Strong technical understanding of game development which included various engines, tools, source control and more.
Experience working closely with Heads of Development, Marketing and Product.
Ability to facilitate and inspire the art department in a hands-off fashion.
Exceptional communication skills both verbal and visual.
Exceptional project planning capabilities.
Must have the ability to build trust and work closely with key stakeholders to come to agreements.
Ability to eloquently and passionately present to large teams.
